34 years ago, world boxing legend Muhammad Ali visited Saudi Arabia, and arrived at the Janadriyah National Festival for Heritage and Culture.
In 1988, the legend toured the Janadriyah pubs, getting to know its alleys and its products, while the cameras’ lenses chased after him from everywhere.
After all these years, social media accounts republished a video clip from the visit, which showed the legend among the sellers.
While Clay expressed his surprise at what he saw of beautiful art made by Saudi artisans, reflecting the country’s culture and landmarks.

Not the first
This was not the first visit, as the legend visited the Kingdom in 1972. When thousands went out to the airport to receive him.
During that visit, he also met the late Prince Faisal bin Fahd, Director General of Youth Welfare at the time.
While the Youth Care program prepared for him a busy visit program throughout his stay in Riyadh, during which he visited some sports facilities and met a number of sports personalities.
It is noteworthy that the Janadriyah Festival is a heritage and cultural festival that has been held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1985.
As for its first session, it was on March 24, 1985. It is usually held during the months of February and March, and it also attracts many visitors inside and outside the Kingdom.
