The Nvidia Ada RTX 4080 Ti Mobile and RTX 4070 Mobile have a significant lead over the RTX 3080 Ti mobile GPU in the leaked Time Spy benchmark.

Nvidia has so far launched two desktop cards based on the Ada Lovelace architecture — the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 — with limited SKUs set to launch in the coming weeks. It is inevitable that the company will offer different types of these cards for mobile phones as well. Usually, this happens around the time of CES, and now there’s some early information on what Ada Mobile’s lineup will be.

wccftech It claims to have had access to the lowdown on the upcoming RTX 4000 mobile lineup along with some performance numbers. Depending on the version, we can see GPUs such as RTX 4080 Ti (GN21-X11), RTX 4080 (GN21-X9), RTX 4070 (GN21-X6), RTX 4060 (GN21-X4), and RTX 4060 (GN21-X4). 4050 (GN21-X2).

Ampere has never seen the RTX 3090 come to mobile — understandably — so predicting the AD102’s death on laptops might be a little far-fetched. However, the RTX 4080 Ti could be the RTX 4090, similar to what we’ve seen in previous leaks. Nvidia may use a completely different nomenclature, but codenames for GPUs are still valid – we’ve seen these codenames leaked along with their corresponding PCIe IDs for months.

Besides the RTX 4000 mobile GPU names, we also have Time Spy scores for these mobile GPUs. I’m not sure if these are Time Spy’s overall scores or if they’re just from the graphics test, but we’re seeing a 30% increase on the RTX 3080 Ti Mobile GPU compared to the RTX 3080 Ti GPU for a laptop, which is a nice improvement. The most interesting part of the graph is the mobile RTX 4070’s 15% lead over the RTX 3080 Ti mobile GPU, which is significant if those numbers are correct.

It will be interesting to see how Nvidia will handle these mobile Ada GPUs. We’ve seen previously that Ada Mobile SKUs based on the AD103 and AD104 can be in the 175W power range. The Ada is no doubt more power efficient than the Ampere, but Nvidia will allow OEMs to configure these mobile GPUs with a set of TGPs. Also, the company is likely to talk about the advantages of new RT technologies and DLSS 3 frame generation, which can achieve higher frame rates in 4K than in native performance.

Nvidia is likely to introduce Ada mobile GPUs at CES 2023. It’s time for Intel and AMD to announce Raptor Lake-H and Ryzen 7000H mobile processors respectively, so we have a lot to look forward to.
