The French coach, Hervé Renard, excluded Fahd Al-Mawlid from the list of Al-Akhdar to participate in the 2022 World Cup, while Nawaf Al-Abed was summoned, according to what was published by the Saudi team’s account on Twitter, the social networking site, on Sunday.
The Saudi national team’s account stated that the exclusion of Al-Mawlid came after reviewing the developments of the appeal of the International Anti-Doping Committee “WADA” in the case before the Court of Arbitration for Sport “CAS” concerning the player.
He added, “After sharing views with the legal department of the Saudi Football Association and the lawyer of the Saudi Football Association, and accordingly and as a precautionary measure, coach Herve Renard decided to exclude the player from the list participating in the FIFA World Cup Qatar, and to summon the player Nawaf Al-Abed to join the list.”
It is noteworthy that Herve Renard announced, on Friday, the list of green players in the World Cup, which includes 26 players: Muhammad Al-Owais, Muhammad Al-Yami, Nawaf Al-Aqidi, Ali Al-Bilahi, Hassan Al-Timbukti, Abdul-Ilah Al-Omari, Abdullah Mado, Muhammad Al-Buraik, Yasser Al-Shahrani, Sultan Al-Ghannam, Saud Abdul Hamid, Nasser Al-Dossary, Ali Al-Hassan, Abdul-Ilah Al-Maliki, Muhammad Kanoo, Riyadh Sharahili, Abdullah Atif, Sami Al-Najai, Salman Al-Faraj, Salem Al-Dosari, Hattan Bahbri, Fahd Al-Mawlid, Abdul Rahman Al-Aboud, Saleh Al-Shehri, Firas Al-Braikan, and Haitham Asiri.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi national team is participating in the 2022 World Cup in Group C, which includes Argentina, Mexico and Poland.
Al-Akhdar will launch, on Sunday, in Riyadh, the fourth and final phase of its preparatory program for the World Cup, as it prepares to face Croatia in its last experience.
