Microsoft recently introduced the new tab interface for Windows 11 File ExplorerWindowsCentral reports that Microsoft is working on several areas of Windows File Explorer to give it a modern touch based on the operating system’s overall design language.
Besides, the company is also expected to make more functional changes such as OneDrive integration Microsoft 365, layout changes, and more.
Windows 11 File Manager Update What’s New
According to the report, the internal mockups reveal a newly redesigned header with a newly redesigned file directory box, a new home button and an updated search box.
File Explorer currently has new Copy and Paste buttons as header buttons and the report suggests that these buttons will be moved to the file or folder below the header.
Depending on the templates, the Home section of File Explorer will also get some changes.
It will provide Microsoft 365 integration with a dedicated recommended file feed at the top, somewhat similar to what we see in the Windows 11 start menu, except for the fact that it will be limited to files.
Other changes expected
In addition to that, File Explorer is also expected to get a new modern highlight button on the left level. Windows 11 File Explorer is also expected to get a new Details page with an overhaul of its design compared to the previous one.
Microsoft is also working on a tagging feature for File Explorer, similar to macOS Finder that will allow users to easily tag and find some similar files, which is also a feature that Microsoft should have added ages ago.
