In the latest field developments, the Ukrainian army said that Belarus had provided its territory and airspace to serve the Russian forces, stressing that the Belarusian army had deployed units of drone operators on the border.
The Ukrainian army also confirmed that the air defense had shot down 9 Russian attack drones, adding: “We carried out 18 air strikes targeting military sites and anti-aircraft missile systems.”
The Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, Viktor Bondarev, said that the conditions put forward by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for negotiations with Russia were “ridiculous.”
In his Telegram channel, Bondarev stressed that the return of the Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to Russia is a restoration of its territorial integrity, because these lands are Russian in origin and were not illegally isolated until the 1990s.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pledged that his forces would not give up “even a centimeter” in the ongoing battles for control of the eastern Donetsk region, while Russian-appointed officials spoke of Ukrainian forces storming a southern town with tanks.

The focal points of the conflict are in Donetsk’s industrial zone around the towns of Bakhmut, Solidar and Avdiivka, scenes of the heaviest fighting in Ukraine since Russian forces invaded in late February.
“The occupiers are still very active,” Zelensky said in his video address on Tuesday night. “Dozens of attacks every day.”
He added: “They are incurring very large losses, but it remains the same, progress towards the administrative borders of the Donetsk region. We will not give up a centimeter of our land.”
Zelensky also said in his speech that about four million people were without electricity in 14 regions, in addition to the capital, Kyiv. The company “Oringo”, the operator of the Ukrainian electric network, said that the scheduled power outages every hour will affect the entire country, today, Wednesday.
The region is one of four that Russia announced it had annexed in late September. Fighting has continued there between the Ukrainian army and Russia’s proxy forces since 2014, the same year that Moscow annexed Crimea in the south.
Russian missile and drone attacks have targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in the past few weeks as winter approaches, when average temperatures usually drop to several degrees below zero and sometimes to minus 20.
Heavy fighting in a southern town
This comes as the Russian-appointed mayor of the town of Snehorivka, east of the southern city of Mykolaiv, was quoted by the RIA news agency as saying, on Tuesday, that residents had seen tanks, and that heavy fighting was continuing.
The deputy head of the Russian administration in the Kherson region said on the Telegram application that the Ukrainian forces tried to advance on three fronts, including Snehorivka.
The Ukrainian governor of the Mykolaiv region also noted that the Ukrainian forces had already expelled the Russian forces from the region.
