The iOS 16.3 software update is in the final phase of beta testing and is expected to be released to the public next week. However, it is still unclear whether or not the standalone app will launch.

According to the code, the tech giant changed a line of text that would appear in the iPhone’s standard Music app from “Shortcut to Apple Classic” to “Open in Apple Music Classical,” indicating that the iPhone maker may have changed the app’s name.

Another line of code read, “Explore this artist in an app designed for classical music.” In August 2021, the company announced that it had acquired classical music service Primephonic and plans to launch an app dedicated to classical music in 2022.

However, the app hasn’t launched yet and the tech giant has been silent about the plans. The company had promised that it would integrate Primephonic’s best features, including “better browsing and search capabilities by author and music repertoire” and “detailed views of classical music metadata.”

The report said Primephonic closed in September 2021 and its subscribers received a free six-month subscription to Apple Music.
