He continued, “A follow-up working group was immediately formed, and after investigation and information gathering, and in coordination with the complainant, a tight ambush was set up and the accused in flagrante delicto was arrested.”

And a statement pointed out that “the accused, when interrogated, confessed frankly that he had sent pictures of his ex-wife and blackmailed her.”

The directorate confirmed in its statement that “the investigative papers were presented to the investigative judge and decided to arrest him in accordance with the provisions of Article 430 of the Penal Code to receive his just punishment.”

Iraq has recently been suffering from an exacerbation of the phenomenon of electronic extortion. The Directorate of Community Police at the Ministry of Interior revealed 1950 cases of extortion in the past year, most of whose victims were women, including teenage girls and children under the age of fourteen.
