Al-Sudani orders the formation of an investigation committee into the killing of an American citizen in Baghdad

On Monday, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, instructed the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, to form an investigative committee from the specialized agencies of the ministry and other security agencies to investigate the circumstances of the killing of an American citizen in the capital, Baghdad.

The Iraqi Security Media Cell stated that the committee was formed immediately after the incident to find out its details and causes and reach the perpetrators as soon as possible.

And security sources reported to Al-Hurra and the Associated Press, on Monday, the killing of an American citizen working for an international relief organization, by shooting him in the center of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The American citizen was shot by unknown assailants, while he was driving his Prado vehicle in the Karrada area, central Baghdad.

The security source told Al-Hurra that the injuries were in the chest area, and he was transferred to Sheikh Zayed Hospital near the area, but he died before arriving at the hospital.

The Associated Press quoted two Iraqi police officials as saying that the American citizen was working for an international relief organization.

The circumstances of the accident, or the motives of the perpetrators, were not immediately known. No one has claimed responsibility so far.

US embassy officials told The Associated Press that they have no information at this point.
